Kid Rock's real name is Robert James Ritchie. He was born on January 17th 1971 and raised in Romeo, Michigan, a small rural town north of Detroit, MI. As a teen in the 1980's Rock was inspired by the Beastie Boys where he learned how to break dance, rap and in 1988 got a chance to show his stuff to Jive records. Although, in the early 90's Kid Rock was ahead of his time, the record companies and radio weren't ready for his unique rap-hard-rock metal and Jive released him from their label after an unsuccessful album "Grits sandwiches for Breakfast", catchy title eh. Although unsuccessful at first, Kid Rock kept performing for loyal local Detroit concert fans in clubs and wherever he could and in 1993 he moved to Brooklyn to record and release "The Polyfuze Method". Polyfuze was mildly successful and raised some eyebrows in the music industry. Kid Rock's road to stardom KidRock's road to stardom began after he formed is first true band called Twisted Brown Trucker. the most notable member of the band had to be rapper Joe C. (Joseph Calleja) who was also one of the first to join. Joe was a longtime fan and frequent concert attendee, Calleja caught Rock's eye in 1994, partly because of his small stature due to a digestive condition known as celiac disease) and also because of his extensive knowledge of Rock's song lyrics. In 1998, Atlantic Records decided to take a chance on signing Rock (due in part because of the success of other hard rock bands like Korn), giving him a solid crack at stardom with the recording of "Devil Without a Cause" The album didn't seem to do that great at first but later in the year, the album's second single and video, "Bawitdaba," become a nationwide smash. The follow-up, "Cowboy," achieved similar success, and suddenly, after 10 years of hard work, Kid Rock was a superstar with 2 Top Five hits and a Top ten and platinum album. Rock also gained a whole slew of new fans nationwide and is a talented performer playing several instruments on stage during concerts and featuring an explosive high energy live act.
