Who will be the Tampa Bay Rays of 2009?
Look no further than 2009 Florida Marlins tickets.
Last season, Tampa Bay came out of nowhere to win the American League pennant. They did with a young, talented pitching staff and some clutch hitting from some rising stars.
The 2009 Marlins have a similar make up, which could lead to a pennant of their own.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Marlins still have plenty to prove.
They’ll have to contend with the strong National East Division, including the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies, the talented New York Mets and the always-tough Atlanta Braves.
But you know what? The Marlins may have more potential than any of them.
Take Hanley Ramirez for example. At 25-years-old, the Marlins’ shortstop is a legitimate MVP candidate.
He can hit for power (33 home runs in 2008). He can hit for average (.301). He can play small ball, with 35 steals, and he’s good for one highlight-reel defensive play almost every game.
There’s also gritty Dan Uggla, who saw his numbers slide toward the end of last season. But when the All-Star second baseman gets it going, he’s capable of putting the Marlins on his shoulders and carrying them.
Add Jorge Cantu to the mix, and you’ve got an offense that can routinely put up runs in bunches.
But what about the pitching staff? Does Florida have enough pitching to stay in contention throughout the year?
That’s one of the biggest questions surrounding 2009 Florida Marlins tickets. And the answer is an emphatic “YES.”
Hard-throwing Ricky Nolasco is the ace of the Marlins’ staff. He went 15-8 with a 3.32 ERA last season.
Keep an eye on Scott Olsen as well, He struggled with inconsistency last season, but he’s got all the tools to be a dominant major leaguer.
So, as you can see, Florida Marlins tickets have the potential to deliver something extremely special in 2009. Pro Players Stadium could be the home to October baseball, something that hasn’t happened around South Florida in quite some time.
Come along for what promises to be a exciting ride in 2009 with Florida Marlins tickets from ABCTickets.com.
Florida Marlins baseball ticket info
Mention the Florida Marlins around
Chicago and
Cubbie
Nation goes into a funk, recalling how a sure thing turned into a “Nightmare on
Clark Street.” Mention the Florida Marlins around
Miami and a similar
funk ensues. Gone are A.J. Burnett, Josh Beckett, Carlos Delgado, Juan Pierre,
Mike Lowell and Luis Castillo. Jack McKeon went bye-bye and fresh-faced Joe
Girardi finds himself with a
Tiger…er…Marlin by the tale. So how does this franchise convince the locals
to purchase Florida Marlins tickets? What the Marlins need at this point is a
catchy team slogan that rings true yet tweaks the nose of fate. How about:
“Starting Over Again… Again”. With every Florida Marlins ticket purchased, the
loyal fan receives a tee shirt with the slogan emblazoned in team colors.
Couldn’t you just see Dolphin Stadium on a sultry South Florida afternoon packed
with fans festooned in shimmering white shirts as their Baby Marlins learn on
the job?
Seriously, you can’t take Marlin management too much to task for the current
situation. As winning tradition goes, they’ve done OK in the short history.
Remember those hinkey
Cub
fans in Wrigleyville. They may have their pick of saloons but nary a
championship for a century. The question before the jury now and for the
foreseeable future is simple, did GM Larry Beinfest get any talent when he
traded away all those millionaires this past winter? It says here that Girardi
will have his hands full molding these Baby Marlins but he starts with two of
the best players in the game, pitcher Dontrelle Willis and outfielder Miguel
Cabrera. As Marlin management travels the countryside, scoping out new and
economically inviting cities in which to play, Manager Girardi must weed through
a gaggle of newcomers hoping to make an impression and win a job. Names like
Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Harvey Garcia, Jesus Delgado Mike Jacobs,
Yusmeiro Petit, Gant Psomas, Sergio Mitre, Ricky Nolasco, Renyel Pinto, Travis
Bowyer and Scott Tyler my some day be spoken in reverence in these parts.
When a team like the Marlins experiences this much turnover, this fast, fans
call into question the sincerity of ownership. But the economics of baseball
created this fire sale. Nevertheless, fans become jaded, but they would do well
to remember that names like Pierre, Beckett and Castillo were fresh and new just
a few seasons ago. Those wise enough to purchase Florida Marlins tickets this
year will be treated to hustling baseball, where young ballplayers are
challenged to rise above their current talent level. A Florida Marlins ticket
guarantees nothing more than the thrill of watching a young ballplayer give his
very best everyday, because that’s all he knows. In spite of it all, baseball
still provides us these golden moments.
