Pittsburgh Pirates tickets have been a lesson in endurance for the last 13 years but that’s about to change. New Manager Jim Tracy brings in an impeccable record from the Dodgers, a winning attitude, and real credibility with the players. Under his leadership, the Pirates should turn things around and become competitive in the central Division. Tracy’s hiring is a major positive for Pittsburgh and the optimism surrounding the club in 2006 is making MLB fans look at Pirates tickets with new respect.

Tracy inherits a solid pitching staff to build on. He’ll need to motivate his players into playing a team first type of baseball and use strategy to win ball games rather than rely on pure talent for the first few years. Luckily, Tracy has the services of left fielder Jason Bay. Bay was a standout for the Pirates on the offensive side. Batting .306, Bay notched 110 runs while knocking in 101 RBI and 32 home runs. That hitting prowess should improve as he continues to recover from shoulder problems that plagued him a few years ago. If Bay can continue his improvement on the defensive side of the ball he could be a candidate for ALL-Star status for many a year. Tracy also brought in Sean Casey, a first baseman from the Cincinnati Reds. Casey has excellent hands but only average range because of knee problems. He’ll contribute mostly at the plate, where he finished 2005 at .312 with 58 RBI. He’s also known around the league as a positive influence in the clubhouse. Another new addition, right fielder Jeromy Burnitz should also deliver on the offensive side. 2005 saw him hitting at .278 and producing 24 home runs. In the field he moves well but his speed keeps his range about average but he’s got a good arm.

With Tracy on board Pirates tickets are poised to get much better. It shouldn’t be long before Pittsburgh can make a legitimate push at a playoff berth. A trip to PNC Park is the 2006 MLB season is guaranteed to give Pirates fans more than they’re used to, and if Tracy follows the same path he took in L.A., Pirates tickets might be hard to get your hands on before long.
