    Golden State Warriors info

There's big reason to celebrate in Golden State: Baron Davis. Warriors ticket holders rejoiced when the team acquired the Baron right before the last year’s trade deadline. With Davis and Jason Richardson in the backcourt, and Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy working the frontcourt, Golden State has a good chance to light up score boards and set the court on fire with a high scoring offense. There's a lot of young depth on the bench as well, and many analysts are picking the Golden State Warriors as the sleeper pick in 2005-06.

The team may have only won one NBA Championship as the Golden State Warriors, but many NBA experts consider it the greatest upset in NBA history. In 1975, the Warriors swept the favorite Washington Bullets. Their performance that year was so unexpected that the Warriors' home stadium, the Coliseum Arena, had scheduled other events during the playoffs, forcing the Warriors to play not in Oakland, but in Daly City.

Fans immediately learned their lesson, and Golden State Warriors ticket sales have not suffered since, win or lose. When the high-scoring trio known as Run-TMC (Tim Hardaway, guard Mitch Richmond, and forward Chris Mullin) prowled the hardwood in the late eighties and early nineties, fans' spirits were soaring. But the team roster's was eventually dismantled, and the Warriors have been in a tailspin ever since.

But things are changing in Oakland. Chris Mullen has joined the team as VP of Basketball Operations and brought back Mitch Richmond as his assistant. It's been eleven years since Warriors fans have had the chance to buy NBA Playoff tickets to the Arena in Oakland. Mullen is doing his best to build a solid team around Dunleavy, Murphy, and Richardson, while Davis hopes to continue to electrify crowds the same way he did at the end of last season. Richardson and Davis make up the best backcourt in the West, if not the entirety of the NBA. If Davis can stay healthy for the season, the Warriors just might be able to give fans something they haven't had in over a decade: a golden ticket to the playoffs.
