Milwaukee Bucks info
If you can only buy tickets for one team this year, buy tickets to the Milwaukee
Bucks. This team is on a course for a breakout season in 2004-05. This is not
the same team as those Buck squads of the past that would stumble around for 82
games, playing as mediocre as possible. This team has all the pieces. They have
an unguardable point guard in T.J. Ford. They have the most underrated shooting
guard in the NBA in Michael Redd, and they have the number one pick in last
years draft, power forward Andrew Bogut.
The Bucks are primed for a big year. A ticket to the Bradley Center means
watching a team that has proven stars and young studs merge into a legitimate
contender. Things haven’t been this good in Milwaukee since Jack Sikma was in
town.
The Bucks have one NBA championship in their history. It was given to them by
Lew Alcindor (who became Kareem Abdul Jabbar) and Oscar Roberson. Their team
fell apart in 1975, as the Goggled One left for Los Angeles, and Mr.
Triple-Double retired.
The Bucks were not able to recover until the mid-eighties when they assembled a
team composed of Sidney Moncrief, Terry Cummings, Paul Pressey, and a
never-ending array of tall guys with long last names. This team was a perennial
playoff threat, but could never get by the great Boston Celtics teams of that
era. One by one, the Mokeskis, the Sikmas, the Breurs, and the Krystkowiaks left
town, and Milwaukee tanked.
The team resurfaced in the 1999 season, under the tutelage of George Karl. Karl
inherited a team of offensive all-stars, and made them play defense. Standouts
Sam Cassell, Glen Robinson, and Ray Allen took to Karl’s system, and the team
was a regular in the NBA Playoffs until injuries and personnel moves derailed
the team in 2002.
With none of the key players from the Karl years remaining, the Bucks are in the
middle of building for something big. They have found a legitimate star in Redd,
who led his team to the NBA Playoffs again last year. The smooth shooting guard
flies under the radar of the national press, but is feared by opposing teams
throughout the league. He is joined by a now-healthy T.J. Ford, who has looked
like the fastest man in the NBA in preseason games. Bogut adds an inside
presence that the Bucks have sorely needed. Get your Milwaukee Bucks tickets
now. This year is not to be missed.
