Seattle Sonics info - Sonics tickets and upcoming season info

How could anyone resist the urge to buy Seattle Supersonics tickets this year? Seattle made great strides in the 2004-05 season and look to bring even more excitement to the Key Arena this time around. With minimal losses in the off-season, Seattle was able to hold together a nucleus that lit up opponents on a nightly basis last year. Led by the smooth shooting of Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, the Sonics were able to outscore nearly every team they played. Throw in the eye-popping showmanship of point guard Luke Ridnour, and you have a team that is never going to be cheated at the offensive end of the court. Sonics ticket holders can look forward to more of the same as the team charges to another Northwest Division championship

The Sonics got their start in Seattle in 1967. The team struggled through their first few seasons before becoming playoff material in 1975. Led by legendary coach Lenny Wilkins, Seattle had their first taste of the NBA Finals in 1978, before returning to win the title in 1979.

Seattle would not return to prominence until the late 1980s, when Xavier “The X-Man” McDaniel and Dale Ellis joined the team, taking them to the elite of the NBA West. While McDaniel and Ellis were not able to topple the Showtime Lakers of the 80’s, they did pave the way to a second coming for the Sonics ticket holders. That rebirth came in 1990, when Gary Payton joined the team. Payton, dubbed “The Glove” for his defensive prowess, joined power forward Shawn Kemp to return the Sonics to the playoffs in the 1996. Unfortunately that meant doing battle with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls prevailed in 6 games, and the Sonics were dismantled soon after. The only remaining piece was Payton, who went on to have a hall of fame career in Seattle.

Payton is in Miami now; the aging star has shipped off in search of an NBA championship. But the remaining Sonics want their own tickets to the finals. Seattle has amassed a team that has two all-stars in Allen and Lewis. Both represent a lost art in the NBA, preferring a mid-range jumper to a rim-rattling dunk. Allen and Lewis have been killing teams softly since Allen arrived in Seattle in 2004, and they look to do the same in the 2005-06. Supersoncis ticket holders at Key Arena can expect to watch their deadeye duo tickling the twine all the way to the top of the Western Conference, and maybe the NBA.
