Utah Jazz info
Utah Jazz tickets to see some of the top NBA teams battle it out at the Delta
Center are guaranteed to provide a great return on investment. The Jazz returns
a solid nucleus from last year and has added Deron Williams, the point guard
phenom from Illinois. Williams, with his tenacious defense and lightning quick
feet, hopes to make the Jazz ticket holders forget all about John "Short Shorts"
Stockton. Williams joins a team of veterans led by Andrei Kirilenko and Carlos
Boozer. Kirilenko has proved himself to be an impossible match up in the NBA,
combining the qualities of a guard, forward, and center into one enigma of a
basketball player. Since joining the Jazz in 2004, Boozer has brought an inside
presence the team desperately needed. Utah Jazz fans hope that their investment
in Utah Jazz tickets will bring an NBA Championship.
So what does Salt Lake City have to do with Jazz anyway? The team moved from New
Orleans in 1979, but why keep such a regional name? Maybe because "The Salt Lake
City Lakers" would have infringed on a little-known franchise from Los Angeles
(who have their own appropriate mascot issues). Regardless, the Jazz moved to
Utah, and the rest is history.
The history did not really get going until the Jazz made it to the playoffs for
the first time in 1984. It marked a start of good things for Utah, who drafted
Stockton that same year, and found Karl Malone the year after. Stockton and "The
Mailman" delivered over and over again in their service for the Jazz. The
combination delighted Utah Jazz ticket holders on a nightly basis, redefining
consistency over their 16 years together. Malone twice won MVP in that span, and
Stockton claimed the NBA career assists and steals record. Not bad for a slow
white guy whose shorts left nothing to the imagination. With Coach Jerry Sloan
at the helm, the only honor that eluded Stockton and Malone was the NBA
championship. They made it the finals in 1998, but were upstaged by Michael
Jordan, who won his final NBA championship on a last second shot in the Delta
Center.
But now Jordan is gone and the NBA is as wide open as it has been in years. The
Jazz are like the Gonzaga of the NBA. They may not have the best talent, but
their ability to do what Coach Sloan asks is unparalleled in the league.
Williams looks to add to this equation for success. He hopes to combine with
Kirilenko and Boozer to make Jazz tickets one of the hottest tickets around the
Delta Center.
