Washington Wizards info
The Washington Wizards awed the NBA with their out-of-nowhere season in 2004-05.
Although just about everyone had counted them out, fans were lining up to buy
Wizards tickets to Gilbert Arenas and company venture into the second round of
the NBA Playoffs against the Miami Heat. An All-Star, Arenas lit up the
scoreboards while Larry Hughes lead the NBA in steals. Juan Dixon and Jarvis
Hayes backed up Arenas’ offense, and like magic, the Wizards were suddenly a
force to be reckoned with.
The other teams in the East know what’s coming now, so things will be a little
tougher for Washington. But that doesn’t mean that Wizards tickets aren’t worth
it. Arenas is shaping up to be the NBA’s best point man. They’ve cut away some
of their dead weight, too. Critics and fans heralded Kwame Brown, one of the
most promising young players in the league, as Washington’s savior when he was
drafted. Unfortunately, he turned out to be a complete bust last year, and NBA
fans rejoiced when the team traded him away to the Lakers. Caron Butler,
acquired in the Brown trade, has the potential to take the sting out of the
departure of Larry Hughes. And who can stop Antawn Jamison’s explosive offensive
attack?
Since the miracle season of 1978, the Wizards (known then as the Bullets) have
had their ups and downs. Hall of Famers Wes Unseld and Elvin Hayes took the team
all the way to the NB Finals on a skimpy 44-38 record and ousted the Seattle
SuperSonics in seven games to bring home the NBA title.
And then in 2001, the great Michael Jordan, then team president, stepped out of
retirement and on to the court to play for the Wizards. Tickets were hotter than
ever, and Washington, DC was in the national spotlight for something other than
political scandals.
Wizards tickets to the MCI Center are a special treat. Right in the middle of
downtown Washington, DC, and just steps from the Capitol Building, the
Smithsonian, and national monuments, the Center is truly a fantastic NBA venue.
Boasting the largest video scoreboard of its kind and a wide array of shops and
restaurants, a Wizards game in the MCI Center is the perfect nightcap to a great
vacation day in the nation’s capital. NBA basketball fans from across the
country regularly scoop up Wizards tickets to take in a game in one of the most
popular tourist spots in the country.
