Now is the time to grab your 2005 Mastercard Alamo Bowl tickets and head down to
sunny and warn San Antonio for a post Christmas party. The Alamo Bowl gets
better every year, and in 2006 you’ll see two of the winningest teams in college
football history battle it out on the floor of the Alamodome on December 28th.
Yes, you can start rubbing your hands together in anticipation of seeing the
Michigan Wolverines and the Nebraska Cornhuskers duke it out for Alamo Bowl
bragging rights.
With 65,000 rabid college football fans packing the stadium, the Big 10’s
Wolverines and the Big 12’s Cornhuskers will meet for only the 6th time in their
history. The last time these two teams butted heads, Michigan took a 27-23 win
in the 1986 Fiesta Bowl. The Wolverines have been in San Antonio before but
didn’t like the ending. Lloyd Carr’s Wolverines dropped the 1995 Alamo Bowl to
the Texas A&M Aggies 22-20. The Wolverines will be looking to erase that memory.
Nebraska, on the other hand, made their mark in Alamo Bowl history with a 66-17
blowout of Northwestern in 2000 and a 17-3 upset of the Michigan State Spartans
in 2003. The Cornhuskers will be looking for their dynamic duo of sophomore
quarterback Chad Henne, who’s already racked up almost 5,000 passing yards in
his short college career, and senior wide receiver Jason Avant to lead Nebraska
to another Alamo Bowl win. 2006 marks the Cornhuskers 35th consecutive
appearance in a post-season bowl game. Michigan earned their Alamo Bowl tickets
with a 7-4 record playing in the Big 10. Under Carr, the Wolverines are 102-33
over the last 10 years with five bowl game victories under their belt.
2005 Mastercard Alamo Bowl tickets are red hot. The ‘Huskers and Wolverines meet
on the football field for only the second time in 43 years in the 2005 Alamo
Bowl. Two of the most storied football programs in college football will lock
horns on Dec 28th, 2005, and it’s sure to be a battle for the ages. What could
be better than to leave the cold and frigid north for a trip to beautiful San
Antonio, TX and catch all the action at the 2005 Mastercard Alamo Bowl along the
way?
