2008 BCS National Championship Ticket info

Can Florida repeat as national champions? Is pre-season #1 USC ready to make the full season sprint for a BCS crown? Or will it be LSU, Texas, Michigan or another school that stakes their place as the best in the land?

The only way to find out is with tickets to the BCS Championship Game on January 7, 2008 at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

For the second year in a row, the BCS will have five bowls: Fiesta, Orange, Rose, and Sugar, with the national championship coming a few days later at the Sugar Bowl on January 7th.

As last year’s contest between Florida and Ohio State proved, the additional game is an excellent opportunity for those who want BCS tickets to attend the championship game.

New Orleans has always been a great place to host such a spectacular event. The famous French Quarter, the superb cuisine, plenty of hotel space near downtown and the Superdome make it an ideal location. You can act now and get your BCS Championship game tickets at ABCtickets.com. ABCtickets will have plenty of seats available for you to attend the game that decides which school is the country’s best.

Last year’s game saw top seeded and undefeated Ohio State come marching to the Fiesta Bowl as a heavy favorite. One loss Florida played a tough schedule and outlasted a tough Arkansas team 38-28 to win the SEC championship, and yet most fans and pundits thought this game was the Buckeyes to lose.

And when Ohio State standout Ted Ginn took the opening kick-off 93 yards, the Gators found themselves behind early and in need of a quick answer. Senior quarterback Chris Leak responded by going 5-5 on the first drive and hitting Dallas Baker for the equalizer.

As both teams calmed down, Florida’s superior strength and speed on the defense took over. Ohio State managed only one offensive touchdown on the night, an 18 yard run by Antonio Pittman in the 2nd quarter. Meanwhile, Leak took his time dissecting the Buckeye’s defense, leading the team to a total of 34 first half points. The defense kept up the pressure in the second half, sacking Smith a total of five times for the game, and keeping the Buckeyes offense stuck in neutral.

When the final seconds ticked off, Leak took a knee and won the game’s MVP, the Florida faithful went crazy, and head coach Urban Meyer took the night to enjoy his first BCS championship because he knew tomorrow was another day, and one day closer to the 2008 BCS Championship game in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

Florida Gators BCS National Championship Game tickets

The Gators went 12-1 with one of the toughest schedules in the nation. Florida owns wins over eight bowl teams, including LSU, who plays Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Yet, not until Florida knocked off Capital One Bowl-bound Arkansas in the SEC Championship Game, did they move into second place in the BCS. After trailing Michigan for the second spot most of the season, the Gators jumped in front of the Wolverines after beating the Razorbacks.
Gator coach Urban Meyer has employed a two-quarterback platoon, featuring senior Chris Leak and bringing in freshman phenom Tim Tebow in short-yardage situations. But with all the Gators’ trickery on offense, Florida’s stifling defense sometimes gets overshadowed. Bolstered by hard-hitting linebacker Brandon Siler and lighting-quick defensive back Reggie Nelson, the Gators boast one of toughest defenses in the nation. And they’ll need every bit of it to slow down the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Ohio State Buckeyes BCS National Championship Game tickets

The Buckeyes have been on top of the college football landscape from the beginning and for good reason. Jim Tressel’s bunch hasn’t shown any chinks in the armor in posting a 12-0 record. The Ohio State offense, led by quarterback Troy Smith and wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez and Ted Ginn Jr., has been putting up points in record numbers. That’s not even mentioning the Buckeyes’ pair of talented running backs in Antonio Pittman and Chris Wells.
Meanwhile, the Buckeye defense, led by Butkus Award winner James Laurinaitis, has been improving throughout the season. Until Michigan hung 39 on the Buckeyes, Ohio State had not allowed more than 17 points all season.
Be very careful, Gators, or you might just be the ones getting chomped on.
