Tech Yellow Jackets, led by a stingy defense and wide receiver Calvin Johnson,
and the West Virginia Mountaineers will collide in one of the more intriguing
match-ups of the bowl season. The Mountaineers feature one of the top offensive
duos in the nation in quarterback Pat White and running back Steve Slaton. With

stands at ALLTELL Stadium to see this ACC-Big East showdown take place.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Toyota Gator Bowl tickets
Georgia Tech captured the Coastal Division of the ACC, knocking off Miami and
Virginia Tech along the way. The Yellow Jackets are led by All-American wide
receiver Calvin Johnson, a sure-fire first-round pick in this spring's NFL
Draft. Johnson hauled in 67 receptions for 1,016 yards and 13 touchdowns. He's
an electrifying receiver, capable of breaking the big play at any time.
Just as impressive as Johnson, the Georgia Tech defense has developed a
reputation as one of the most aggressive defenses in the nation. The Jackets
love to bring pressure and will bring the blitz at any time, anywhere on the
field. But the Jacket defense, certainly, will be tested by West Virginia
explosive offense.
West Virginia Mountaineers Toyota Gator Bowl tickets
West Virginia is one of the most fun teams to watch in the nation. The
Mountaineers feature a unique offense that has big-play ability on every down.
Sophomore quarterback Pat White is at the controls of this offense, which
averaged more than 30 points a contest. White threw for 1,524 yards and 11
touchdowns, while also picking up 1,074 yards and scoring 17 touchdowns on the
ground. His backfield mate, electric tailback Steve Slaton, is equally as
explosive. Slaton picked up 1,733 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground,
providing the Mountaineers with a dual threat that opposing defenses have a hard
time containing.
Seeing West Virginia's powerful offense take on Georgia Tech's ultra-stingy
defense will be worth the price of Toyota Gator Bowl tickets.
Past Gator Bowl ticket info
With a Louisville-Virginia Tech matchup, there are too many storylines to pass
on buying Toyota Gator Bowl tickets. It starts with the Cardinals' redshirt
freshman back-up quarterback Hunter Cantwell trying to deal with the nation's
No. 1 defense. Hokie quarterback Marcus Vick won't have it easy either. He'll
need to make like his older Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons in order to
avoid Louisville's sack machine Elvis Dumervil. The ACC-Big East showdown kicks
off at 12:30 on January 2 at Jacksonville, Florida's Alltel Stadium.
Both the Cardinals and Hokies had BCS-sized expectations heading into fall.
After marching out to an 8-0 start, Frank Beemer's Hokies seemed headed for a
BCS Bowl and maybe a shot at a national championship. But leave it up to those
pesky Miami Hurricanes to derail Virginia Tech's dreams. The 'Canes dusted the
Hokies in Blacksburg 27-7. Still - thanks to the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets
upset of Miami, Virginia Tech backed into the ACC Championship Game and were one
win away from realizing its BCS hopes.
Unfortunately for the Hokie faithful, another team from Florida would stand in
the way. This time, it was Bobby Bowden's Seminoles from Florida State that
trounced Virginia Tech's BCS dreams. It will be interesting to see how the
Hokies react in the Gator Bowl.
The State of Florida also had an impact on Louisville's season. The Cardinals
were expected to breeze through the Big East and wind up in a BCS bowl. But a
stunning blowout loss at South Florida in the third week of the season put a
halt on any BCS talk in Louisville. Bobby Petrino's Cardinals rebounded to win
three straight, before dropping a gut-wrenching 46-44 loss to the eventual Big
East champion West Virginia Mountaineers.
Cantwell filled in for normal starter Brian Brohm, who suffered a season-ending
injury late in the season. While Brohm's back-up helped Louisville to wins in
its last two games, Cantwell hasn't seen anything like the Hokie defense. But
Vick hasn't seen anyone like Dumervil either. The defense that catches the
quarterback first could be hoisting the Gator Bowl trophy when the clock at
Alltel Stadium hits 0:00. Don't let the clock run out on you. Buy 2006 Toyota
