It’s time to get in gear and head out to beautiful Aloha Stadium for a great gridiron contest between the University of Central Florida and the Nevada Wolfpack. The UCF Golden Knights may be the comeback kids of the year in college football. George O’Leary, the Knight’s head coach, just accepted the Conference USA Coach of the year Award for his stunning reversal of UCF’s football fortune. After posting a miserable 0-11 record last year, the UCF Golden Knights engineered an 8-4 season in 2005. After capturing Conference USA’s Eastern Division Championship, the Knight’s are now bowl-bound for the first time in school history. Isn’t it nice to see the underdogs come out on top? With quarterback Steven Moffett completing over 60% of his passes and racking 2,624 yards and 8 touchdowns and running back Kevin Smith contributed 6 TD’s and almost 1,000 yards on the ground, the Golden Knights should be in good shape to finish the best season in UCF’s history on a winning note. The Nevada Wolfpack locked up their Hawaii Bowl tickets with an 8-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the WAC, sharing the conference title with the Boise State Broncos. It’s a hungry Wolfpack squad headed for Hawaii. Nevada is seeing their first bowl game action since the 1996 Las Vegas Bowl. Nevada quarterback Jeff Rowe is dangerous in the pocket. Rowe is accurate (61.3% completion rate), and prolific (2,671 yards and 9 touchdowns). He’s also got some weapons on offense. Wide receiver Caleb Spencer has 56 catches, including a 64 yarder for a score and 770 total yards receiving. He’s Rowe’s favorite target in the end zone with seven TD’s. Nevada can run the ball too. Senior running back B.J. Mitchell has carried the rock 231 times for 1,221 yards and 10 touchdowns. Enjoy the beaches, enjoy the sun, enjoy the Hula girls, and the ice cold drinks in the shade of a palm tree. Dive in the crystal clear water, explore the islands, and create an unforgettable vacation for your family. Then reward yourself with 2005 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl tickets. You deserve it.
