This year's contest features the Georgia Bulldogs and Lsu
Tigers and is on 12/3 at the Georgia Dome
LSU’s Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night in Baton Rouge is one of college
football’s most unique venues. It starts with an afternoon full of tailgating.
The menu consists of the Bayou’s best alligator sausage, gumbo and even a little
crawfish, all washed down with some fine Cajun potion. By around 5 p.m., the
BBQs begin to simmer. Tiger fans begin to growl. By kick off, Tiger Stadium
transforms into Death Valley and literally begins to shake. It’s an intimidating
atmosphere for any opponent, and one that every college football fan needs to
experience at least once. Make this the season you take a trip to Death Valley
with LSU football tickets from ABCTickets.com.
Head coach Les Miles enters his second season as the Tigers’ field general.
After taking over for current
Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban before the
2005 season, Miles led the Tigers to an SEC West Division title and an emphatic
blowout of Miami in the
Peach Bowl. With the majority of the talent returning,
the Bayou Bengals will be looking for more this year.
Quarterback JaMarcus Russell had a breakout season in 2005, before suffering a
season-ending injury in the SEC Championship Game against
Georgia. But back-up
Matt Flynn filled in admirably, giving Miles the luxury of two reliable,
experienced signal callers to orchestrate his pro-style offense. The backfield
will also get a boost with the return of bruising tailback Alley Broussard. As a
sophomore, Broussard led the Tigers in rushing, but suffered a season-ending
injury before he could step onto the field last year. He’s back and will join
Justin Vincent to form one of the nation’s top backfields. Receiver Dwayne Bowe
is one of the best in the SEC and is capable of getting behind the secondary in
a blink of an eye. They’ll need every bit of their explosive offense to tackle
the typically brutal SEC schedule.
Before conference play begins, the Tigers must deal with a difficult game with
Mike Stoops’ improving
Arizona Wildcats. In-state rival
Tulane will also visit
Tiger Stadium in a highly-anticipated September game. Fresno State and the
University Louisiana-Lafayette round out the Tigers’ non-conference slate.
The Bayou will be boiling again, as the Tigers prepare to make another run at an
SEC title and berth in a BCS bowl. A Saturday night in Baton Rouge is a
one-of-a-kind experience for any college football fan. So make arrangements to
be in Death Valley this fall with LSU Tigers football tickets from
