2007-2008 Rose Bowl ticket info

There’s a reason they call it the “Granddaddy of Them All”. Anyone who has ever had tickets to the Rose Bowl, or anyone who already has 2008 Rose Bowl tickets, is a part of one of college football’s most storied traditions. The Rose Bowl is played on New Year’s Day and is part of the BCS Championship series, hosting the national title game in 2002 when Miami topped Nebraska 37-14 and in 2006.

The first Rose Bowl was played in 1902 as Michigan upended Stanford 49-0. Originally intended as a contest for two powerhouse teams, one from the West and one from the East, the game settled on an annual matchup between the PAC 10 and Big Ten champions in 1947. That format remained in place until 2002 as the Rose Bowl joined the BCS bowl system, but the Rose Bowl still attempts to have a PAC 10 and Big Ten matchup when national title implications are not at stake.

The 2006 contest was hailed by many as the greatest college football game overplayed. Top ranked USC came into the game riding a 34 game unbeaten streak and making a claim as one of the best teams of all time. The Trojans were led by two Heisman trophy winners, Matt Leinart who was the 2004 winner, and Reggie Bush, who had just won the award a few weeks prior. Second ranked Texas was likewise unbeaten and toting a 19 game unbeaten streak of its own. The Longhorns won the Rose Bowl the year before over Michigan 38-37, and were led by Heisman runner-up Vince Young.

The game lived up to its billing in every way. Texas took a 16-10 halftime lead on the strength of a Selvin Young 12 yard touchdown run and three David Pino field goals. Both teams came roaring out of the gate in the third quarter. USC’s explosive offense got untracked with a pair of Lendale White touchdown runs and Texas answered with a Vince Young 12 yard touchdown run.

The Trojans kept the pressure on in the 4th quarter with a 26 yard Reggie Bush touchdown scamper in the first minute and a 22 yard touchdown haul by Dwayne Jarrett. Down by 12 with less than seven minutes to play, the Longhorns responded with a 69 yard drive capped by a Young 17 yard run.

On the ensuing possession, USC was facing a fourth-and-2 with just over two minutes left. In an effort to clinch the game, the Trojans went for it but White was stopped just short. Texas took the ball down the field to the Trojan eight where they faced a fourth-and-5. Young dropped back in the pocket and then took off down the right side as he danced into the corner of the end zone to give the Longhorns their 4th national championship, 41-38.

Anyone who had Rose Bowl tickets can make a claim they were at the best college football game of all time.

Rose Bowl ticket preview - USC vs Michigan

USC and Michigan — Do we need to say more? It’s time to buy Rose Bowl tickets from ABCtickets.com. These two perennial college football powers are sure to put on a show for the ages. The 2007 Rose Bowl presented by Citi kicks off at 5 p.m., on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, Calif. But the party will be raging throughout the holiday season at the Rose Bowl. Festivities begin early in the week and are highlighted by the Tournament of Roses Parade, which is followed by kick off. You’ll come out smelling like roses if you buy Rose Bowl tickets from ABCTickets.com

USC Trojans Rose Bowl tickets

It’s not the bowl game Pete Carroll’s Trojans were hoping for, but Rose Bowl tickets are never frowned upon. Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, USC appeared poised to face Ohio State in the BCS National Championship Game. But the Trojans slipped up against archrival UCLA and now find themselves in the Rose Bowl.
While disappointed, few Trojan fans are complaining. They’re snatching up Rose Bowl tickets just as quickly as usual. That’s because they know this could be their last chance to see Dwayne Jarrett, one of the best wide receivers in the game.
There is speculation whether Jarrett will return for his senior season with USC. The stocky speedster is definitely ready for the NFL. But you know he’d like to go out on a high note. Maybe something like a 10-catch, 175-yard, three-touchdown performance in a Rose Bowl victory over Michigan.

Michigan Wolverines Rose Bowl tickets

Much like the Trojans, Michigan had ideas of playing in the BCS National Championship Game. But, alas, the Wolverines were dropped in the polls in the final weeks, making room for Florida to advance to the title game against Ohio State.
The Wolverines have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of though. Quarterback Chad Henne, running back Mike Hart and wide receiver Mario Manningham bolster one of the most explosive offenses in the nation.
The Wolverine defense isn’t too shabby either. Michigan boasts one of the top front fours and linebacking corps. Michigan’s defense against USC’s offense will be worth the price of Rose Bowl tickets alone. Having a chance to see the Wolverines’ offensive firepower is just an added bonus.

Rose Bowl ticket info for the 2006 game between USC and Texas

Take that, BCS-haters. We've got a national championship showdown for the ages, and you can be there. Buy Rose Bowl tickets today and reserve your spot to see the Texas Longhorns and USC Trojans meet on a Wednesday night (January 4) at Pasadena, California's historic Rose Bowl Stadium. That little dandy will top off a week filled with holiday fun and the pageantry and festivities of the immaculate Rose Bowl Parade. College football fans take note: This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Take advantage of it. Buy 2005 Rose Bowl tickets immediately.

The Longhorns ride into Pasadena on a 19-game winning streak, the second longest in the nation. With rowdy quarterback Vince Young in the saddle, Texas stampeded through the Big 12, disposing of those pesky Oklahoma Sooners along the way. After a 70-3 rout over the Colorado Buffalos in the Big 12 Championship Game, Mack Brown's bunch was headed back to Pasadena. Last New Year's Day, Young delighted the Texas faithful that picked up Rose Bowl tickets and made the trip west by leading the Longhorns to a heart-stopping victory over the Michigan Wolverines. The burnt orange has bigger things in mind for an encore. It sure won't be easy, though.

The mighty Southern California Trojans own the nation's longest winning streak at 34 and counting. With a star-studded offense that includes Heisman Trophy finalists Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart, the Trojans have fought off every challenger and will be shooting for a third consecutive national championship. Pete Carroll's Trojans crushed Oklahoma 55-19 in last year's Orange Bowl to hoist the crystal football trophy that is awarded to the BCS National Champion.

Will Leinart and Bush solidify the Trojan Dynasty as one of the greatest teams in college football history? Or have the Longhorns and their Heisman candidate caught up to USC?

Young can definitely be a handful. And the Trojan defense has surrendered some points this season. But when you have an offense capable of lighting up the scoreboard like USC's, it may not matter. Regardless, the stars will all be out in Pasadena for a New Year's celebration that winds up at Rose Bowl Stadium. Rose Bowl tickets are your invitation to the party. No RSVP necessary.

Rose Bowl short history

The Rose Bowl has been given the name "The Granddaddy of Them All", the Rose Bowl Game has been a sold out college football championship attraction every year since its inception in 1947.  In 1947, the first game was played under the Tournament’s agreement with the Big Ten and Pac-10 conferences. The 1998 Rose Bowl Game was the 52nd anniversary of that agreement, the longest standing bowl game of collegiate conference and a bowl association. Now, as part of the Bowl Championship Series or BCS, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena has hosted the National Championship Game between the top two teams in the nation in 2002 and will host it again on January 4, 2006. The USC Trojans or Texas Longhorns could get in the 2006 Rose Bowl making it a very tough ticket especially if the Trojans go undefeated and make it, The Big Ten winner also has an outside chance but there are currently no teams undefeated in the Big 10 this year, making it one of the first times the Rose Bowl may not feature the winners of the Pac-10 and Big 10 football conferences.
