Atlanta Thrashers ticket and team info

An Atlanta Thrashers ticket to Philips Arena is one of the best values around. Not only do you get to see some great bone-crushing ice hockey, you get to experience a truly unique arena. Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Atlanta, right off of Centenial Olympic Park, Philips Arena is a great place for hockey, with its unusual layout and modern facilities. With club seats and luxury boxes on one side of the ice, and general admission on the other, there's not a bad seat in the house. Every seat is right up close to the action.

    The Star
The Thrashers added Slovak winger Marian Hossa in 2005, trading away star forward Dany Heatley. Hossa posted his best season ever, with 39 goals and 53 assists for 92 points, and will be the Thrashers' ticket to success in the future. Atlanta was ranked fifth in total offense in the NHL last year, and Hossa was a big part of the offense. He's an exciting player to watch, and will one day be considered one of the greats.

    The Coach
With Bob Hartley at head coach, the Thrashers have the experience behind the bench to get into the playoffs for the first time in their history. Missing out by two points last season is an experience Hartley does not want to relive. He won the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001, and knows how to get the most out of his players.

    The Team
The Thrashers only missed the playoffs by two points last season, and they are determined to go the distance this year. Lehtonen went down in the first game last season with a groin injury, and the Thrashers struggled through a series of replacement goalies in their struggle to stay alive in the playoff hunt. With Kari back and healthy now, the Thrashers just may have the defense they need to take them to the post-season. It may still be something of a novelty to see an ice hockey game in the Deep South, but you certainly are going to get your money's worth of professional hockey with Atlanta Thrashers tickets!

    Atlanta Thrashers info

Atlanta Thrashers tickets have taken on new life with the addition of winger Marian Hossa and defenseman Greg DeVries. Both NHL stars were obtained in a swap with the Ottawa Senators. The deal brings a good young forward and an experienced defensive player to the ice of Philips Arena. Dipping into the free agent market again, Atlanta landed the services of center Bobby Holik. Holik can contribute on both offense and defense and fits the Thrashers’ aggressive style of play very well. The roster changes should pay off quickly, as Thrashers ticket holders prepare for what may be a pivotal season at Philips Arena.

The Thrashers gave Atlanta their first NHL franchise since the Flames left almost 20 years before. Naturally, that first season was a struggle. The infant Thrashers scratched out a mere 14 wins and finished last in the Southeast Division. In their second season, the Thrashers showed slight improvement but barely avoided a last place finish with a record of 23-45-12-2.

In its third season in the NHL, Atlanta landed a pair of young rookies that delighted Thrashers ticket holders. Dany Heatley and Llya Kovulchuck debuted for the Thrashers. Heatley played well enough to win the Calder Trophy, and Kovalchuck scored 29 goals before suffering an injury. Despite the injection of talent, the Thrashers 2002-2003 season began terribly, with the team posting an 8-20-1-3 record before management stepped in and fired head coach Curt Fraser. Hiring Bob Hartley to take over brought some improvement. The Thrashers finished the season with 31 wins, good enough for a 3rd-place finish but not enough to land a playoff spot.

Optimism reigned among Thrashers ticket holders after the strong finish in the previous season, but things came to a sobering halt when Heatley and teammate Dan Snyder were involved in an automobile accident that ended Snyder’s life and left Heatley out with a knee injury. The team ended 2004 with a record of 33-37-8-4.

It’s time to get Atlanta Thrashers tickets and a seat at Philips Arena to watch Dany Heatley and Llya Kovulchuck, two of the best young forwards in the NHL today, lead the Thrashers to what may be the first playoff season in franchise history. The mix of young talent and veteran experience assembled by the Thrashers gives Atlanta one of the most exciting rosters in the NHL, and GM Don Waddell has assembled all the parts necessary for punching the Atlanta Thrashers ticket to the NHL Playoffs.
